Words by P - Chief Adventurer.

Born during a time when travel had never felt so restricted, the global COVID-19 pandemic was a forced moment of pause for all; and nothing felt the impact more than our surrounding environment.

A moment of respite, a moment to breathe, essential time for planet earth to begin to reclaim the natural world.

As pollution lifted, mountains emerged, waters cleared and skies seemed more vivid. It was the rapid visible undoing of our modern lifestyles, one centred around mindless consumption and excess.

Our beautiful world is a gift, and I could no longer overlook the fact that, if we want to continue to share and enjoy it’s wonders, we need to change the very ways we explore. We need to move slowly and with consideration.

And so became… By Location.

SLOW TRAVEL is considered and thoughtful travel; the kind that encourages us to PAUSE, mindful of our pace of movement and truly aware of our environment and our impact.

The kind of travel that allows us to connect with where we are, and the communities around us. The kind which “gains while also giving” because when we travel, we’re a guest in someone else’s home.

And so became: By Location.

OUR MISSION is to positively impact the people and places we visit by changing the way we travel.

We aim to seek out spaces, places and experiences that offer moments of calm and connection to the world with an approach that is rooted in eco initiatives, good quality and simple design, unique and accessible stays, vegan food and excellent coffee destinations.

We believe that premium travel experiences should be about more than the expensive and exclusive. Rather, it’s about unique, authentic and enriching experiences off the trodden tourist trails.

It’s about getting under the skin of a new destination.

Above all, while we understand that sustainable travel cannot ever truly exist, we are committed to learning how to reduce our footprint and become a positive impact upon the places we choose to visit.

We promise to share what we learn, to inspire and connect with others on that same mission and to ultimately make it easier and more accessible for us all to travel better.

By Location is a source of inspiration to travel beyond tourism.

MEET P…

Always curious and chasing the next adventure, P has an obsessive habit of researching cities and countries, always seeking to discover what’s on offer beyond the everyday tourist attractions.

A combined love for architecture and simple design, as well as an interest in the way people interact with their environments, P is determined to understand what makes a place tick and experience it for herself.

Occasionally coming undone in the pursuit of a decent plant based meal while on the road, P created this space to help solve problems for likeminded travellers by documenting and sharing her own thoughts, experiences, and insights in the hope that it might inspire others to join her on the same joyous adventure.

MEET ASH…

Ash is no stranger to travel; Mauritius-born, raised in London and now residing in Germany, he has spent the last few years globetrotting to capture some of the worlds biggest stars of sport.

Particularly interested in the human side of storytelling, Ash relishes photography as an outlet that, in his words, ‘opens up the world’, allowing him to discover new places and cultures.

With a notably raw photographic-style, Ash hopes to capture images that allow the viewer a more humble and authentic insight into each destination.

MEET CIARÁN…

A true adventurer at heart, Ciarán has travelled to many parts of the world, spork and water bottle in tow, searching for a good vegan meal and human connections rich in culture and true to the destination.

As chief wordsmith and communications strategist, Ciarán is keen to share with the By Location community and beyond insights and recommendations to guide likeminded travellers in search of mouthwatering plant based meals without compromising on flavour.

From India to San Fransisco, and much to his surprise, it was Tokyo that offered some of the best and most unexpected vegan delights. Shoutout T’s Tan Tan Ramen and that rich sesame broth.

If he’s not riding a bike up a mountain or hiking for an epic view, you’ll find Ciarán reading his book while testing out the local coffee spots.
